Authority to Act
A useful authority is broad enough to resolve the case and narrow enough that everybody can see the boundary.

1. Core authority
By signing a Case Authority, the customer authorises WEIRD WISDOM LIMITED trading as HANDLED to act as its representative solely for the identified case and named counterparty, within the scope below.
- Communicate with the counterparty and its complaints, billing, support and management teams.
- Receive and request information reasonably necessary to understand and resolve the case.
- Make, maintain and escalate complaints and request complaint/deadlock references.
- Provide relevant evidence supplied by the customer.
- Negotiate and relay offers, without accepting an offer unless separately authorised.
- Where the relevant scheme permits it and the customer approves, act as representative in an ADR/ombudsman process.
- Receive correspondence about the case and request written confirmation of commitments.
2. Authority not granted
- HANDLED may not impersonate the customer or use the customer's passwords/security answers.
- HANDLED may not admit liability or wrongdoing on the customer's behalf.
- HANDLED may not accept a settlement outside a specific written authority.
- HANDLED may not enter a new contract or vary unrelated services.
- HANDLED may not receive settlement money into a client account; redress should normally be paid directly to the customer.
- HANDLED may not issue, prosecute or defend court proceedings for the customer unless that reserved work is lawfully performed through an authorised structure.
3. Verification and provider forms
A counterparty may reasonably require its own letter of authority form, signature, account holder verification or a short call between the three parties. The customer authorises HANDLED to arrange those steps but remains responsible for completing personal security checks.
4. Data and recordings
The customer authorises relevant case information to be disclosed to and received from the counterparty, ADR scheme and approved case providers to the extent necessary to pursue the case. Calls may be recorded or transcribed in accordance with the Privacy Notice and announced recording purpose.
5. Duration and revocation
The authority begins when signed and ends on the earliest of case closure, written revocation by the customer, HANDLED ending the case, or 12 months after signature unless renewed. Revocation does not undo valid actions already taken or fees already earned.
